DeSoto County 72-Hour Releases
The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office does not publish a separate three-day feed URL. Instead, its official Released search has an “Over the last number of days” field. Enter 3 to create the 72-hour view. This distinction prevents a stale or invented feed address from being mistaken for a live sheriff page.
The three-day view draws from DCSO's release database, not its Current roster. It catches more departures than a one-day scan and keeps the same set of release fields. A person may appear in both windows. DCSO does not state whether the day count uses exact elapsed hours or calendar-day boundaries, so “72-hour” describes the chosen three-day filter rather than a guaranteed minute-by-minute interval.
Run DeSoto Three-Day Releases
Start in Released mode and create a new query. A saved results page may not preserve the posted day setting. The broader window is useful for reviewing a group of departures, but each row must still be tied to the right person and booking. Dates, charge context, and the linked detail provide the best available match.
- Open the official DCSO Released search and verify the Released toggle is active.
- Choose the search for releases “Over the last number of days.”
- Enter 3, submit, and record the date and time the query ran.
- Match the name with age, admit and release dates, charge or court type, and arresting agency where available.
- Open the detail, then check the court docket or receiving agency when the outcome may be a transfer.
The search can be repeated with a larger day count if the event falls near the edge. For departures believed to have occurred today, the DeSoto County 24-Hour Releases page gives the tighter same-day method.

A row does not necessarily disclose whether the release followed bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, a completed sentence, a transfer, or another lawful event. Use the detail and DeSoto Clerk docket for the supported legal term. “Released from DCSO custody” is the careful description when the destination remains unclear.
DeSoto Weekend Release Window
A three-day view is most useful when the search crosses a weekend or holiday. A one-day query may omit a Friday departure by Monday, while the three-day setting can keep it inside the chosen period. It also helps when the exact date is uncertain or when physical processing ended after the court event that authorized release.
No DeSoto source promises a special weekend or holiday release schedule. Court orders, bond posting, holds, transport plans, paperwork, and property return can affect timing. Therefore, do not infer that a person should have appeared at a set hour. Does three days always equal exactly 72 hours?
Not necessarily. The portal does not publish the server boundary. Treat the setting as DCSO's official three-day search and note when it was run.
DeSoto Released Archive Retention
The real strength of the DeSoto system is its dedicated release archive. Its Released toggle avoids the common error of treating disappearance from Current as proof. The day-count control produces one-day, three-day, or wider views from the same official record set. The browseable grid was deeply paginated when checked on July 14, 2026, showing that many older releases remained accessible online.

The image documents the portal layout, not a statutory retention period. DCSO publishes neither a fixed web-retention term nor a refresh cadence. An older entry may remain online for a long time, but future display can change. The underlying record may still be available even when the public grid no longer shows it.
Florida's GS2 retention schedule gives booking records and commitment-and-release lists minimum agency retention periods, but those rules do not require continuous website display. Ask for the booking/release record and the daily commitment-and-release list covering the date when durable archival proof is needed.

DeSoto Release or Transfer
The three-day list confirms that a DCSO booking moved to Released. It does not answer every custody question. Someone may leave the county jail for the community after bond, dismissal, time served, sentence completion, or another order. The same person may instead move to FDC, another county jail, federal custody, ICE custody, or a secure treatment or commitment facility.

DeSoto County is especially prone to system-boundary confusion because it also contains a state prison complex and the Florida Civil Commitment Center.
